Personal protective practices and pharmacy services delivery by community pharmacists during COVID-19 pandemic: Results from a national survey

Coronavirus disease (COVID19) has adversely affected the delivery of various health services. Little is known about impact COVID19 on pharmacy services across United Kingdom (UK). We surveyed community pharmacists UK to understand their protective practices, professional and general well-being, during pandemic. Community were invited participate in a cross-sectional survey via nationwide weekly newsletter Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee local pharmaceutical committees second week May 2020. The remained open for 4 weeks. A total 206 responded with representations from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales. majority (>75% or above) reported an increase customer traffic asking relevant questions patients flu-like symptoms before signposting them appropriate care. Most (>85%) maintaining safe distance 2 m customers 72% wearing N95 mask 28% using gloves apron addition distancing masks. Ninety-nine percent drug shortages 38% 26% significant critical causing disruptions beyond over counter medicines. Eighty-nine inappropriate behaviour carers 31% 16% it be regular frequent problem, respectively. Fifty-three% willing offer assistance mass testing antibodies if adequate training reimbursement are provided. facing considerable challenges terms personal protection Inappropriate towards require urgent attention ensure working place all pharmacists.
